Research Service Center

The Research Service Center (RSC) supports the University community in its pursuit and management of externally sponsored projects. The RSC is the key point of contact for all your needs throughout the life cycle of your project: developing and submitting your proposal, managing your project, compliance and auditing, and reporting and grant closeout.

The RSC supports the preparation of grant applications, including budget development and proposal submission, and coordinates the final approving authorities for externally-funded projects. The first step in engaging the RSC on grant proposals is to complete the Intent to Propose (ITP) found here: https://mycampus.maine.edu/group/usm/developing-and-submitting-your-proposal

The RSC is also focused on providing financial management assistance to Principal Investigators and Project Directors after an award is received. RSC staff work closely with project staff to: review, approve, and sign all award documents; prepare and submit financial reports; manage project accounts receivable; revise budgets; and amend or extend projects. Services continue through the award termination date, ending with the submission of the final programmatic and financial reports.

Additional information, including who is eligible to serve as a PI, is available online at http://usm.maine.edu/research-service-center
