SOC 307 - Quantitative Research Methods


This course provides introductory skill-building in quantitative data methods and analysis in Sociology.Students engage in critical thinking around the use of quantitative data and statistics in social science research and society. In this course, students generate research questions and testable hypotheses and analyze secondary data sources. Specific statistical topics include: measures of central tendency,measures of dispersion, t-testing, analysis of variance, cross-tabulation, recoding variables, among others. The course includes a required computer lab component. This course provides students with skills necessary to critically engage in quantitative reasoning. Previous experience with statistics not required.

Prerequisite(s): SOC 210  with a grade of C or higher or permission of instructor.
