SOC 327 - Social Movements This course introduces students to the sociological study of collective action, social movements, and social protest. Analyzing the main theoretical traditions and concepts that characterize the social movements literature provides a sociological scaffold for an understanding of the emergence, mobilization, dynamics, and outcomes of a wide range of collective efforts. A significant portion of the course involves the application of social movement theory and concepts to a wide array of case studies (e.g., Civil Rights Movement, Far Right Movements, Black Lives Matter).
Prerequisite(s): SOC 210 with C or higher or permission of instructor. Co-requisite(s): Credits: 3
