LOS 340 - Presidential Civic Leadership Academy I The purpose of the Presidential Civic Leadership Academy is to engage students in developing an understanding of place, democracy, leadership, and the importance of community engagement. It offers students an opportunity to practice leadership and engagement in their community, and in the process to build their own leadership skills. This course is intended as the first part of a two-part sequence with LOS 341, but can be taken independently, without having to complete the second part. This course is focused on place, community, and what it means to be engaged and to lead. Students will work together to identify a local issue of concern and will develop and propose a solution. The course fulfills the Ethical Inquiry requirement in the Core Curriculum and may count for an elective in some majors.
