EDU 546 - Planning and Assessment I This is the first of a two course series designed for pre-service teachers to be taken concurrently with a school-based placement. Through examination and implementation of national and local learning standards, students build an understanding of standards-based learning from an equity perspective. They learn to create lesson plans and series of lessons for their grade level aligned with standards and child development. They explore the value of communicating clear expectations, a range of instructional strategies to meet diverse learner needs, giving meaningful feedback, methods of formative and summative assessment, and ideas to promote learner agency. Students share experiences and practices with each other, discuss and reflect upon relevant readings and apply learning in classroom settings.
Prerequisite(s): Matriculation into a graduate teacher certification pathway, or permission of Teacher Education Department. Co-requisite(s): Credits: 1-3
May be completed 3 times for a maximum of 3 credits.
