HIH 283 - Healing and Spirituality

This course will explore the links between spiritual understandings and physical, emotional, and mental health. Focusing on wellness practices from an array of spiritual, religious, and healing traditions, this course will examine determinants of health and share practices and techniques utilized in achieving and maintaining an overall sense of personal health and well being. We will also examine ways in which religious and societal values and expectations become internalized and affect the ways in which we interpret and experience wellness and discomforts. This course is designed to offer an experiential  opportunity to become more aware and familiar with the overall concept of health and well being and how spiritual and religious practices and beliefs can help and hinder our experience of peace, joy, meaning, and fulfillment.
