Theatre Minor

The minor in theatre is designed to provide basic foundational knowledge in both theatre theory and practice, including history, performance, design and technology. The theatre minor consists of 21 credit hours of courses in theatre, providing students with not only the understanding of the time-demanding nature of theatre as a craft, but also key skills in collaboration and communication. The minor is open to all students who would like to begin a theatre education, and/or maintain and augment previous theatre experience. In order to declare the minor, students must have a minimum 2.0 G.P.A. and have completed the core competency in College Writing. Students must receive a grade of C or higher in all required courses in the theatre minor.

The minimum number of credits (exclusive of the University’s Core curriculum) required for the minor: 21.

General Theatre Minor: The courses required are

The student must take two other THE courses chosen in consultation with a Department of Theatre advisor in accordance with the interests of the student.

Theatre minor students who fail to maintain a 2.5 overall GPA may not be allowed to participate in Department productions in either an acting or technical capacity (except for lab duties or requirements related to coursework). These GPA standards are required for graduation and a grade of C or better is required in all theatre and dance courses.
