The Entrepreneurship minor (15 credits) prepares students to both start their own business as well as become an agent of change and innovation within a larger business. Developing the critical skills of opportunity identification, value creation, and creative thinking, students will master the approaches needed to develop a successful entrepreneurial mindset. Courses include topics in feasibility analysis, venture creation, creativity and innovation, and managing a growing venture. The minor complements any field of study, including the sciences, arts, humanities, engineering, and education.
Students who wish to pursue the minor must complete a minor declaration form available online at the Registration & Scheduling Services MyUSM (login required - UMS credentials).
The requirements for admission to the minor are completion of at least 12 credits at USM with a grade point average of 2.33 or higher.
School of Business majors may count up to two specified (see minor requirements) business core courses (6 credits) in both the Business Core and a Business minor. The remaining minor courses (9 credits) cannot double count in the minor and the Business major courses or between two Business minors. School of Business majors are allowed to declare more than one Business minor.
Non School of Business students can only have one Business minor.
