BIO 309 - Comparative Vertebrate Anatomy This course explores the structure, function, and evolution of fish, amphibians, reptiles (birds), and mammals. Topics are introduced in lectures and further explored in the lab. We discuss the origins of vertebrates and the comparison of skeletal, muscular, digestive, cardiovascular and nervous systems. Students examine skeletal structures using a multitude of skeleton specimens; gather and analyze comparative morphometric data; and dissect vertebrate specimens.
Prerequisite(s): Grade of C- or higher in BIO 113 /BIO 114 , or BIO 209 , or BIO 223 ; also grade of C- or higher in CHY 115 , or permission of instructor. Co-requisite(s): Credits: 4.5
