BIO 337 - Marine Ecology This course explores the dynamic relationships between marine organisms and their environments through a comparative study of coastal and open ocean ecosystems. With a special focus on the Gulf of Maine, students examine key ecological processes, species interactions, and environmental challenges shaping marine communities, while also considering ocean habitats around the world. The course is a combined lecture-lab that includes immersive field trips and culminates in a student-designed group research project. Lecture: three hours per week; laboratory: four hours per week.
Prerequisite(s): Grade of C- or higher in BIO 203 or ESP 125 ; grade of C- or higher in CHY 115 ; or permission of instructor. Co-requisite(s): Credits: 5
