BPH 202 - American Health: A Social Perspective


This course examines how social, cultural, behavioral, environmental, and structural factors shape health outcomes and contribute to health inequalities in the United States. Using a public health lens, students will explore key concepts, frameworks, and data sources used to understand patterns of health and illness across populations, with particular attention to power, privilege, and systemic inequalities. The course emphasizes critical thinking, ethical reflection, and effective communication to analyze complex health issues within their broader socio-cultural contexts. Cr. 3. To count towards the Bachelor of Science in Public Health, course must be taken Graded (not P/F).
