The Department of Computer Science offers a Computer Science, B.S. designed to prepare students for solving real-world problems through computational thinking and modern computing technologies. The program reflects the evolving nature of computer science, extending beyond traditional programming to include the development and analysis of complex, data-driven, and intelligent systems.
The curriculum covers core and emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, machine learning, data science, high-performance computing, and software engineering. Students gain both theoretical foundations and practical experience, applying computational methods to problems in areas such as healthcare, climate science, and other interdisciplinary domains.
The program emphasizes problem-solving, creativity, and analytical thinking. Students learn to design and implement software systems, develop and analyze algorithms, and evaluate computational solutions. Graduates are well prepared for careers in industry, research, or graduate study, with skills in data analysis, system design, and interdisciplinary problem solving essential to today’s rapidly evolving technological landscape.
