RMI 350 - Corporate Risk Management and Insurance


This course introduces students to the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) process used by many businesses to manage risks across the organization. An emphasis is placed on the role of commercial property and liability insurance to reduce, manage, and transfer risk. Topics include risk identification, risk assessment, risk management decision making, and the transfer of risk to others. Various commercial insurance contracts are discussed in detail, such as commercial general liability, business auto, workers’ compensation, commercial property, business income, inland and ocean marine, directors and officers liability, and employment practices liability insurance. The legal environment of property and liability insurance and risk financing are considered. Non School of Business students please see enrollment policy for eligibility.

Prerequisite(s): Junior standing and successful completion of the University’s Core requirement in Quantitative Reasoning (C- or higher). Students are encouraged to take RMI 320  before or concurrent with RMI 350.
